Victorian Birdhouses

It seems that technically there is not really a Victorian house, as it would really be a house from the Victorian era. But there are variety of elements that recall Victorian era architecture that many makers of birdhouses have chosen to include in their Victorian birdhouses. You can find them as one, tow or three story homes. Many will have the familiar octagon or round shaped tower as the dominant feature, often with a porch that wraps around the tower.

These homes could be found in the US and Canada, but the elements of the style were borrowed from every nation and many eras in history. The styles varied across the country. The most common Victorian style is often referred to as Folk Victorian. Many of the classic styles were built by the wealthy who had access to architects. But the the common man often wanted a Victorian style home and would design the house themselves. Often these designs weren't classics but still had a charm of their own, while tending to be on a smaller scale.
