A simple hook is all that is needed to mount many of these bird baths, as the amount of water they hold is relatively small, so the weight can be handled by a simple hook. Some of these baths are made of resin, and so are relatively lightweight, while others are made of metal and will need a sturdier mounting scheme. They commonly come in diameters of 10 to 20 inches, and obviously the smaller ones will be lighter if your are concerned about your ability to adequately mount one of these.
Another approach to putting up a hanging bird bath is to use a hook or other type of separate mount.
